What DVD Player for £200

Help!!
I`ve finally come into some money and want to purchase a DVD player.
However I haven`t got a clue what to buy, I`ve got £200 to spend and don`t know what to get. I want a player that plays all DVD`s I want to buy (not overly bothered about multi-region.....should I be??) such as these RCE encoded ones????
Plus normal CD`s and MP3 stuff.....

tempted with the wharfdale M5, but don`t know about anything else!
plus also I only have 1 scart socket on my TV and that connects to my NTL cable....I`m going to buy a scart extension (you know so I can have the scart lead plugged into my TV and have the NTL and DVD hanging off that) can anyone tell me if that WON`T work because I`ve been told it should..................any help is greatly appreciated.......

thanks
AL

Hi Alan,

I posted the self-same thing last week - what player should I buy as present for my brother, with an upper limit of £200. If you scroll back through the posts, you`ll find it.

The concensus was the Wharfy M5 was definitely a contender, but that the Minato G1 (on sale for £110 in Tesco) was also a quality player for the cash. My local Tesco had sold out of the M5, so I ended up buying the Minato- at that price, you can`t go wrong.

There are some other players mentioned by Clayts and Dan B on that thread, so go have a look...... Good hunting!

Mark

My mate`s just bought a player from richer sounds made by a company called Eclipse. I don`t have a model number sorry, but I`m sure they`ll know what you`re talking about. For £179.99 it does everything and absolutely wipes the floor with my Panasonic RV20! It multi-region out the box, it plays discs with Regional Coding Enhancement. It also plays CD-R and CD-RW and even MP3! It has multiple connections and is easily connected to a surround amp. I have seen this player in action and the picture quality is excellent. For such a low price point this is well worth checking out. Failing that you might want to look at the Mico A980. For £199.99 this is great allrounder. The Minato from Tesco (I have a one of these also) is alright for a hundred quid but the remote control buttons have to be pressed three times before the player responds to what you want it to do! Not good!
