Panasonic DMRES10 Help required

marklfc77 (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 1st September 2005, 14:26

Hi I have just bought the panasonic DMRES10 and am experiencing a couple of problems.
1) I am having a problem with trying to record programs from Sky, I set the timer on the recorder and set the sky to autoview and turned it of, all that was recorded was a black screen and sound. I looked in the manual and tried set the sky to autoview again and set the recorder to EXT view it worked the first time I tried but the second time I tried the sky turned on but the recorder didnt, timer seems to work ok when sky is turned on but doesn`t when you set to autoview any suggestions.
2) I have set the TV JVC (2scarts) Digibox Pace(2scart) and Dvd recorder (2scarts) as mentioned in the manual but when viewing the picture on the AV2 channel for the DVD recorder to record the seems to be some interference on the picture, slight ghosting usually words, and 2 vertical lines the move from left to right with slight discolouration in between them, This problem is not in your face you may not notice it but if you know its there it is annoying
thanks

Sounds like a pin 19 problem.

Quote:
Video breakthrough: Another problem which arises is that there can be signals or interference emanating from the TV on the Scart wires. Pin 19 (at the TV end) is a likely candidate and should be cut, otherwise picture interference or "ghost pictures" may occur - often of the terrestrial programme behind the satellite programme. If you can`t get inside the plug to cut the wire, simply twist the pin off (at the TV end). On most plugs you can use a sharp point to press the tiny tag on the flat pin which will let you push it inside the Scart plug. That way, if you get it wrong, you can tease out the tiny tag to lock it and push it back again.

If you have expensive scarts and don`t fancy cutting them get a cheap scart from a poundshop and cut the wire for pin 19 at the TV end onlyand see if that cures it.

i`m not sure but there may be a problem with the `ext link` on some dmres10s. have a look at the dvd recorder forum at avforums. type in `es10` into the `search this forum` option - there should be a number of threads to have a look at. they may have advice on the `ghosting` aswell.

hope this helps
