Eclipse DVD 695 review

Jus (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 19th July 2001, 20:28

I have just bought and Eclipse DVD 695 from Richer Sounds and was told at the time that it was review as player of the month in one of the DVD mags. I have search and can`t find any mention. Has any one seen a review or have I been told a porky.

Also, whats all this I read about macrovision and should I be worried about it.

The Eclipse DVD 695 was Best Buy in a DVD roundup in last month`s Q magazine.

Macrovision is a copyright protection system that affects DVDs, pay-per-view movies, etc copied onto a videotape - it significantly distorts the recording.

sorry for the incredibly late reply. As the first reply told you, Macrovision prevents you from copying DVD content onto VHS videotape. With the eclipse dvd 695 this is not a problem as the player has this feature disabled from the word go. No hacks or chips!

hi,you can switch the macro off by these steps.
1.switch power on then open tray and press 7,4 enter.
2.a setup screen will come up on screen,go to the bottom one then press enter.
3.macrovision should then appear, press enter till a zero appears, then press setup to exit.
4.unfortunately you must do this every time you switch the power off.
if anyone knows how to switch it off permanantly i`d be glad to know how to do it.
