Help does anybody know how i can get my Samsung 709 to accept VCD`s that i have burnt, do i have to use special CD`s (branded or Unbranded) It won`t even accept shop bought VCD`s.
Could it be to do with the AIWA remote hack

Officially the 709 doesn`t do CD-R (see the manual) but I have heard people say that if you buy the Argos Vivistar 50 CD spindle, these CD-R`s have just the right dye colour (light pale green) for the 709`s laser. (the dark blue-green TDK type CDR dye is a definite no-no).

Don`t know what the problem is with VCD silvers though. My 709 plays these OK. I used the double cold-start method to hack my system, but it shouldn`t make any difference.

May be your firmware version? I have 3.28 and it is generally OK. You can find your version number on the labelled firmware chip on the mainboard inside the case. sadly the only way to upgrade is to replace the chip or send it various chip upgraders that do this job for about a fiver or so.

Just found out the 709online site is back. try
