Can you record from the sky+ hard disc to dvd?
Yes!
Scart to scart is what I use myself. Just watch out for those copy protected programmes.
Live a life you love, use a god you trust, and don`t take it all too seriously
If you want to "ahem" backup protected material from SKY you will need a scart lead from here - http://www.sonel.com/
I believe KT Vision do one ( it is dearer ) as well, just google it.
It might also need a small ac adapter to power it as well but only about £4.99 from argos or similar.
There are more protected channels on SKY than you might think, E4, Discovery channels, movies, sports to name just a few, in fact probably more protected than there is unprotected.
;-)

I don`t think so. I have recorded many programmes from different Discovery channels on both tape and DVD and never encountered any macro effects.
Just tried a few minutes of E4 on DVD and it recorded fine.
On one occasion I did try to record part of a Box Office film which we had paid for but had to interrupt late at night and that could not be done on either tape or disc so I know my gear is not macro free.

Same here
I`ve recorded all sorts of films/sport/programmes from SKY+ to DVD.
Never had a problem.
I don`t use their box office,so I can`t comment on that.

i`d be very surprised if these chanels are protected, i know they aren`t on "standard" sky boxes.

I know the following didn`t record to dvd from SKY+ box before I had the Sonel lead, The Ryder Cup on Sky Sports, Sopranos E4, movie channels, certain progs taken from discovery didn`t work either ?
Strange, will go and try them right now just to confirm
