Page 1 of Using component lead rather than scart

Hi
As per previous thread i have ordered:
Toshiba 36"
Toshiba 210e Dvd

It would appear the best way to connect these 2 items is via component rather than scart.
Has anyone tried the component lead that comes with the toshiba`s?.

Would a ixos cable really be worth it?, if so do you know the cheapest place to buy ixos in the uk, there website doesnt appear to list any uk dealers???

the best way to connect-period. all the benefits of rgb with an added cinematic quality to the picture.
i have an ixos 5metre lead that cost me £40 at sevenoaks.absolutely suberb quality,and i cant stress the fact enough.toshiba tvs seem to be the only sets that adopt this connection atm-im sure the other manufacturers will coton on sooner or later.

these are just a handful,but are some of the best dvd transfers ever.

This dvd lark is hardwork!.
First I spend a month working out what`s the best:
dvd player, tv and vcr to order. (all arriving soon hopefully)

Now ive got to work out which cables to get to cable them together!!! (after i get these cables I then need to find an amp and speakers!!).

I`ve decided to go for 4 scart leads (tv-vcr / tv-sky / sky-vcr / dvd-vcr)

From what people have said these are a good lead?. However the cheap price does concern me slightly, and how much difference there would be spending £40 for each ixos cable i dont know?!?!?!?.

The only other leads i need therefore are for connecting the dvd - tv
for this i need 2:
a component & a sound coaxial cable.

For these i think it may be worth buying IXOS to get the quality?.
Westy - sevenoaks seems really expensive to me, and they dont answer any of my emails, do you know where the cheapest ixos component & sound cables can be found?

ps. I`m sorry about all these lame newbie posts, please try and bear with me guys i promise not long now until im all setup and out of your hair!!

first things first,you do NOT need 4 scart leads!you only need 2-im taking into account you have a nicam vcr with two scarts yes?if so then this is what you need to be doing;
take the scart lead from your skybox and plug it into the "line 2" input of your vcr.
then use one scart lead to go from the vcr to the tv.
plug these into the "av1" input on your tosh.
when you want to watch sky,select "line 2" on your vcr input(there should be switch labelled av or equivalent),which will then be routed via the vcr`s video swithching to the tv.
to watch a video just press play!(the scart will trigger the auto detect in the tv which means it selects automatically)
just remember if you want to record from sky then you must select "line 2" on the vcr for it to record from the digibox.
for the dvd buy the ixos component lead(try hi fi bitz) and run that from the dvd to tv.this is paired with the s video selection on "ext3" on the tosh.just remember to switch the connection to "comp-v" in the tvs av connection menu and you`ll be away!
try the ixos co ax range(again at hifi bitz) to connect the dvds sound output to the tv.
dont bother connecting the dvd to the vcr,its just another reason for you to get confused!
this is a very technical explanation i know,but i have a tosh w/s with component and a similair set up to yours and the above connection method works just fine.(i have seperate amp and speakers tho).

I`m sure the "lame newbie" posts are not direcected at your self. You wanted advice and by the looks of things people have been happy to give it. (but what do I know I`ve only been coming here about a month)

As per post above sevenoaks didn`t answer my sales email either, do they not really support email?

Sorry to hear a couple of you are having problems with getting answers from your E-mails. Not so long ago all Sevenoaks stores swaped to a corperate address i.e "retseciel[at]moc.noisivdnadnuosskaoneves" with the town or city name at the front. I know some stores have had some problems with the crossover. (including myself) Please let me know which stores they are and I will try and find out what is going on.
