Page 1 of DVD/VCRCombi

I am about to by a dvd recorder/VCR combi. Was about to order the Bush DVRH SO2 when I came across a forum on the web and could not believe the problems that people had with this machine, so this is off the list. Have looked at Sharp DVRW 250 H now superseded by the DVRW 260 H and also the LG RC 1000. There are loads of sites offering the Sharp 250 H and 260 H but can only find the LG at Argos and at http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_28518.html but when I look at the spec on this site it does not appear to be for the LG RC 1000. I think also the LG model can be LG RC68227 but can`t find this either.

My gut reaction is to get two separate units but `she who must be obeyed` has decreed that they all must fit in the existing cabinet which also houses the TV and only a combi will do this.

Would appreciate any info/advice on the two Sharp machines, which is better - the older model is more expensive and some sites say it is withdrawn from production. Have heard good reports on the LG but where to buy it other than from Argos and maybe the other site. Thank you for reading this; having just avoided buying a load of trouble from Bush, I just want to make sure.

Have you considered Panasonic? I bought a model NV-VP31 from multiregionmagic.co.uk and was well pleased. Fully modified for multi region and macro disabled......... One advantage of this approach compared to the two box solution is that the DVD output goes out on the co-ax as well as the SCART socket so if your TV doesn`t have a scart socket, you can still watch DVD`s. Worth considering..................

get two separate units and a new cabinet problem solved coz if one goes titts up then you will still have the other and it will be cheaper to replace.

I agree with eggster, because after a while and after you`ve finished off copying your videos, you won`t be using your vcr very much at all. Stick the vcr in the space where the old tapes used to be :-)
