SKY Link - How do I get better quality!!

Colin Mitton (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 23rd May 2005, 13:38

I have SKY+ 160 with a coaxile link to a different TV with the Sky remote control receiver unit (so I can change channels etc...). The quality of the picture on the other TV is.... CRAP!! is there a way to boost the signal / improve quality? (I have tried fine tuning the TV!)

I already have SKY Multi-room to keep the mother-in-law happy so I need a half descent alternative!!

Also is there a way of sending the signal wirelessly? but I still need to changel channel watch / control SKY+ recordings. A few friends of mine have asked me about this one as well so any thoughts / suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Colin

Colin :)

Only suggestions regarding the co-axial would be to use either a booster and place it between the Sky box RF2 and the co-axial that feeds the second TV or use a better quality than the Sky "Engineer" :D used.
Possibly digital quality cable may give you a better picture through less degradation of the signal.
You can get a transmitter/receiver set for about £40 that will allow the wireless transmission of the signal to your second tv plus all the functions of the remote.
Whatever method you use you will always get a loss of picture quality however some solutions can reduce this loss quite a bit.

Hi Colin
I had the same problem.I had mine fitted by a local tv/sky dealer and he left it with a bad picture on the second set.I got them back out they tried different eye-links and never cured the problem. Got Sky out they found out the second output on the Digibox was faulty.Sky box replaced end of problem. To check if it is your secondary output at fault, swap the connections over if the picture is now bad on the one downstairs Bobs your uncle.Hope this is of some help. :)

Basically use good quality cable & keep the cable as short as possible (though it is also worth checking the connections on the Sky box)

You get Video senders from Argos, Maplin etc that will send a signal wirelessly, but the picture quality isn`t brilliant (whether it`s better than what you`ve got now, I can`t say)
