Ah.u mean the one at Comet? It gets fairly good reviews but was the first DLP TV to hit the UK.At that price it looks a good alternative to the plasma screens.

I bought the slightly newer LG RE44SZ21RD television for £1200 about 6 months ago. It is an excellent set which, in my opinion, gives a better performance than most plasma screens - largely I think because of the greater native resolution of the DLP chip. It has the advantage of not being susceptible to screen burn but is deeper than a plasma screen although still slightly less deep than a 14" portable TV. The only difference between the older model you have seen advertised is that it does not have the 2 sets of progressive component inputs featured on the later model. If you only use SCART connections this is not important but only 1 SCART has RGB input.

I would guess it has been reduced to make way for new stock, which is HDTV compatible. If you`re not bothered about HDTV then it`s probably a good time to buy.

But bear in mind there`s also the cost of a replacement lamp (roughly every 3-6 years). Not sure how much these cost for an LG set, but it`ll probably be a few hundred quid.

Beware. I came on to the site to see if anyone else experience the problem I have. I bought this set 2 1/2 years ago ($2000+), and the lamp recently went out. I ordered a new lamp, which costs $300 - but unfortunately then I found out that it was really another problem, but the indicator for the bulb comes on as a result. Cost of additional repair? $500. I was fairly happy with this set but would NEVER EVER buy another one without an extended warranty. And, I tried to contact LG and they never responded. I bought a Samsung to replace it, with a 5-year warranty. A hard lesson learned, unfortunately.

Just sharing

Think it was the bulb initialisation circuit or something, happened to loads of the LGs.
Texas weren`t too chuffed about it either when it was happening over here (blew their stack at one meeting I was at)

On another point above, the 44SZ20 and the 44SZ21 were actually the same set. The "20" being the Currys model with the "21" being manufactured mainly for Comet.

Can`t remember which of the two went into the other Retailers but there was a later modification to the component inputs so that might be the one described above.

Think they were badged RCA in the US but not 100% sure.... some damned fine Sammy DLP`s out there now but I still wanna front projector!
