Hi all, Just got myself a Samsung 811 (With 5.1 Decoder). I was wondering if any else has experienced any Picture/Sound freezes. It doesn`t really affect the viewing as such (Only Millisecs) but it is noticable!
It happened a couple of times on Gladiator, and Enemy of the State. Is this something to be concerned about or is it liable to happen on most machines due to this new technology.
It is still under warranty, but I would have to send back to Unbeatable Internet suppliers, I am wondering whether it is worth the hassle or am I being too fussy?

I bought an 811 in Dixons about 2 weeks ago and bought Billy Elliott along with. Played the movie and just minor freezing. Since then have rented 2 movies. The Replacements - minor freezing. Then last night rented `Meet The Parents`....aggghhh...nightmare......the disc completely froze about an hour into play. Brought the disc back and got a new one....froze in exactly the same place. Have checked a few sites and see this has somehting to do with `Dual Layer` and that the Samsung is particularly bad at handling this. I am seriously considering bringing it back and would appreciate any advice on what to get instead.
Another problem is that the unit gets quite hot and the discs are very warm when you remove them...is this normal?

I would consider changing your faulty 811 for another of the same model before picking a totally different player!
While it`s true that the x11 players don`t handle layer changes as well as some more expensive brands, this won`t cause the disc to freeze *during* playback of a layer - that`s obviously a player fault. The Samsung players have their foibles but they`re among the best in their price bracket... exchange your 811 for one that isn`t broken, and you`ll see :-)
As for the warm discs, that`s normal. As long as the discs don`t get too hot to touch, you needn`t worry.

Cheers Mike, brought player back to Dixons...decided to go with a new Samsung 811 to see if same problems before changing. Guess what?...all okay. At least I have a 3 year warranty so if same problems occur again I`ll be heading back in.
