Was having a look at their website for a new TV and came across this online-only offer, sounds too good to be true to me for that price!

Thomson 42" Plasma

Anybody tried one or knows anything about it?

Avoid like the plague! Do a search on AV forums website (the Plasma forum) and you`ll see why. They are selling loads of these refurbished ones. Ask yourself why anyone would be returning a new product like that!

Get a reputable name like Panasonic, Hitachi, Sony or LG - but do your research first! You can`t get refunds for blurring, solarisation etc

ps Avoid Tiny plasmas like the plague on steroids!!!

Hey hey hey hey HEY!!!! Don`t be dissin` LG. I`ve still got my LG3350 DVD player since 2000 and it is still by far better than a Sony equivalent. Don`t believe me?

:) the problem with LG is consistancy,(& has been for a good while) some of there products are superb, but loads of them are also crapp, don`t get me wrong, i`d buy LG (my comment was largely tongue in cheek) but a lot of there stuff is manufactured for them by the cheapest bidder so quality from product to product is allways variable (if this is no longer the case i`m sure someone will point it out ;) )

Hmmmmm... Fair comment indeed. I`d guess when it does come to plasma`s/LCD`s and at this present time- it has to be the top brands to go for ( Sony, Panny, Toshiba, Pioneer to name a few). I personally am still sticking with my traditional Cathode ray tube TV for now. ;)

The LG42PX11 has had its problems. I think it`s based on the old Panasonic PW5 screen. The latest version seems to be getting better feedback than the older 3000:1 contrast ratio version. I personally opted for the Panasonic PW6 and have not been disappointed.

The PX11 tends to be ragarded as the best budget plasma TV.
