This plasma is not HD, unless I have missed it.
If you want HD I suggest you look at the LG LCD range, these sets can receive HD transmission when it kicks off.
However I would wait a while Sky are getting prepared to tramit HD later this year, but when I spoke to them there still appears to be problems with agreements/policy and may be launch next year.
I am sure if this has changed someone will correct me, I hope as I am also waiting to buy into this.

I`d personally hold off full stop for the moment, every major manufacturer seems to be bringing out new models with better picture technology. Sony are suppossed to be bringing out a new model that has HDMI and or DVI (with the all important HDCP that Sky said was essential for some of its propsed services)

A lot of the LCD manufacturers have startedtalking about improved response times with LCD, getting responses down to 8ms or so, making the smearing issue more or less a thing of the past, so LCD is becoming a viable alternative to PLasma in terms of picture quality, though the cost still seems slightly higher so I guess they still have a higher ratio of screens being rejected at quality control

If you`ve got 3 grand burning a whole in your pocket, consider the Pioneer 435XDE, if you`ve got less than that, go buy yourself a copy of What Plasma & LCD, read it from front to back and make sure you don`t end up spending a grand or so on something thats not upto the job in a years time that you really regret buying

If this is the best deal on the web for a HDTV then it is a bargain.

So why don`t you put your thumb back in huh?

Sky will be going HDMI with copy protection although some say they will add component output (which i doubt).

Pioneer latest panels as well as others offer HDMI input, look out for the HD Ready logo on sets.

Richer Sounds offer pretty good prices on the non freeview 435, freeview looks very poor on a HD TV and I have not heard if there will be HD terrestial digital broadcasts?

Also, John Lewis offer a 5 year warranty and price match, but that`s another thread altogether!
