Page 1 of Creative DXR3 ..connecting to TV?
Hardware Forum
I have a creative DXR3 and would like to connect it to my TV (approx 15 feet away from my PC!). Creative supplied the 7-pin s-video to RCA adapter (I think they did,, as it looks like the picture on the following link):

So, the above site states that I now need a male-to-male RCA cable to complete my project. Err, what`s that, then? I`m a real beginner, I`m afraid. And, also, my TV has both a free scart and an s-video connector so what would be the best approach?? Many thanks in advance....

An RCA cable is sometimes called a phono cable. It`s like the one that runs from a CD player to an amp only those run in pairs. Take the connector you have to Richersounds or any decent hi-fi shop and they should sell you the right thing. What about the place where you bought the DXR3?
Anyway The male part is the plug at the end, often called the jack, it will fit into the yellow adapter in the picture you mentioned (like a male fits into a female ;-), the other end will fit into the composite video connection on your TV. This is often on the front panel of TV`s and will also be yellow.
This connection will only carry pictures so you`ll have to either a) use your PC to deliver the sound or b) Run the digital out from the DXR3 to a Dolby Digital amp. I don`t know what other connections the DXR3 has, it might be that it has other audio outputs for say a conventional hi-fi or even the audio inputs next to the composite video input on your TV..
Mind you If the DXR3 has an S-Video output I presume that you could just use a straight S-video to S-video cable?
Hope it goes well.

I have a similar set - up. The TV, amp etc. is to the opposite side of the room to my pc. I have connections running under the floor comprising a 10m s - video lead to the TV and 10m coax to my Yamaha DSPA5.
Most TV`s have a S-Vid input on the front and/or a configurable scart on the back. Mine runs into AV2 which is switchable to S-Vid using an a S- Video round 4 pin plug to scart adaptor, quite cheap. The decoder card in the pc has both of these outputs.
When watching on TV you have to switch the output using the on screen "remote" and also pre-select the AC3 setting in the sound configuration. Best way check out the handbook. If not using an amplifier
the sound can be output to desk top speakers if required but only in stereo. My cables came mail-order from one of the specialists as in "What Hi-Fi" etc.
I also have an infra red keyboard and by using a learning remote control I now also have a remote for the DXR3.
Hope this helps.

I`ve got a similar set up to the one you describe. I bought a lead from the same web site you posted the link for. They do a longer cable that allows you to connect the seven pin S-video connection on the creative decoder card to the 4 pin s-video socket on your TV. Try this link.

You can then use this to connect the card to the TV without the need for extention leads. The lead provides a s-video connection as well as a composite connection (where the picture is pushed down one wire rather than several).
