WHAT PANASONIC 50HTZ. - 100HTZ.?
ADVICE NEEDED - I,M AFTER A 28" FLATSCREEN & HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT A PANASONIC IS THE BEST OPTION. BEEN TO A FEW RETAILERS & FOUND A PANASONIC TX28PM1 50HTZ. FOR £299, BUT ON THE COMET WEB SITE I CAN GET A PANASONIC TX28PM11 100HTZ. FOR £319. I KNOW £20 DIFFERENCE IS NOTHING BUT IS THERE MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.

The difference is that 100Hz will give you blurry fast motion and lack of detail.
If you cannot see a flicker on normal tv pictures you need not even consider 100Hz at all.Save the £20 and get a decent picture

That`s just not true of all TVs. The 100Hz Toshiba set I have gives a perfectly good image from all sources (save for poor quality stuff like Telewest`s digital service).

I`m also looking for a new TV and weighing up the 50 v 100. Never noticed much of a flicker on my current Daewoo 50htz. After looking in the usual Currys, Comet, etc I thought the Sony`s had the best picture. I went to our local Sony centre and asked the guy if he could show me the difference between 50 & 100. He put up the football results service up on both and the flicker on the 50 was really noticable, even worse than my Daewoo. On a normal channel, I couldn`t see a difference. He admitted the blur on anything fast moving was a critisism of 100`s. I watch a lot of football, so that put me off slightly. I plan to go to a friends who has a 100 and watch a match to see for myself. The guy from the Sony centre recommended Sony & Panasonic. If you have a Panasonic shop near you, they (like Sony) are giving you a 5 year warranty

I bought a Panasonic 28PM11 from Comet, sent it back as it made a buzzing noise (my extra sensitive hearing a belive, awaiting a philips now), but the picture was excellent and i found it far more `steady` than my previous 50hz.
I hear a few people mantion 100hz problems but I must say I never experienced any trouble at all. Yes the `green` when watching football was a little blurred but not enough to make me go back to 50hz. Also read that on a 28inch there maybe no need for 100hz but a 32 its woth it.
The thing that I noticed is that every magazine review I read, and i read all of them!! Every TV was 100hz and not one magazine (What HI FI, What TV & Video, Home Cinema mag etc etc) mention 100hz was a problem so I would guess that if 100hz TV`s were inherently problematic, some of these reviews would say so and recomend 50hz instead, but none of them did (bear in mind they were all reviews for 32inc).
My Philips PW9309 32 100hz will arrive this week, i`ll let you know what I think.
Nick.

I would be very surprised if What Video and Home Cinema Choice failed to mention picture defects when reviewing a 100Hz set-even if its in a positive sense
RE: WHAT PANASONIC 50HTZ. - 100HTZ.?
Indeed its true, not one magazine mentioned 100hz to be an issue of any kind. They do mention certain problems with the digital enhancement specialalities (if i`ve spelt that right?) of each brand, but nothing to do with 100hz, what HI FI was the same too

I`ve done a lot of searching and found a Panasonic TX28PM1 television deal for £270 delivered and that includes the tv stand and a free dvd player! I bought the lot from Direct Digital of whom are based in Bolton I think. I`ve set it all up and it`s fantastic!! Real Bargin!
