Panasonic DVD Recorder Owners Look In!
Just got my mate to buy an E55 ( about £180 with staff discount! Paid £295 for my E50 about 18 months ago!) and will get him some DVD-ram disc`s from SVP as they seem the cheapest 9.4GB ones i have seen with postage.
Now DVD-R`s?? :/
Ive not had too many problems with dvd-r`s on mine apart from not being very compatible with other DVD players. I wondered if the new menu system on the E55 with thumbnails pics has sorted this problem and whether there are an issues with any makes or speeds of media.
Maybe ink-jet printable media that I can get from SVP at the same time?
Any help appreciated :)

I don`t have a Panny machine any longer. But your compatibility problem with -R on other players could be down to using printable discs.
I have tried literally dozens of different makes of player, and while very few had problems, some that did were having problems with labelled or white top "printable" discs, while playing normal -R discs with no trouble at all
RE: Panasonic DVD Recorder Owners Look In!
No, there was an issue with some older DVD players locking up when trying to play the DVD-R`s made by the E50. It was not a media issue as I had the problem on all media when trying to play discs in my old Kiirio DVD player. No problems with my new Bench DVD player now though.
I also cant play ANY DVD+ media in my E50, is it the same for the E55??
RE: Panasonic DVD Recorder Owners Look In!
The HS 2 I had was,if I remembr correctly based around the E50 and not the E55.It would play DVD+R without problem, but not +RW

BTW, if you`re after 9.4GB DVD-Ram discs in caddys, the panasonic eshop is quite cheap. I`ve just got a pack of 3 for £14.99 plus £4 p+p

I find the Bulkpaq and Datawrite -R disks very reasonable from Ebuyer. I`ve also had some printable ones and had nothing but trouble with them on a PC; having said that - I did try one on my E55 and it worked fine. Maxell -R also seem to be reliable, but a touch more expensive.
RE: Panasonic DVD Recorder Owners Look In!
I only use Maxell or Panasonic`s own.
I wouldn`t class myself as a prolific user so price isn`t that important to me.
A friend has been giving me stuff recorded on -R`s made by ` Ridisc `.
It`s a hit or a miss as to whether the machine plays them or not, which is a right pain in the backside. >:(
Penny pinching twit that he is... :/

Agree with Bowfer above. We pay a lot for a decent DVD recorder and then put cheapo discs in them to record on - then complain they dont always work. I go for Maxell and have had no problems with them
