Hello Leeroy,

Depends what you want really; do you need fancy edit facilities etc, or just good quality picture and sound? A lot of players offer 5.1 phono outputs, even some supermarket budget brands.
Cyberhome are pretty good; I think they are stocked by W.H. Smith, as well as some specialist suppliers who can supply them multi region and `VCR Friendly` (macro disabled).

Good Luck,

Jim.

He did say recorders,not players.
Not sure what you`re after. All dvd recorders have an output for 5.1 sound.Either optical or coaxial.
If you are after the individual phonos I don`t know if there is one.Why would you want them anyway?
If its for DVDA or SACD you would be better of with a player and separate recorder

The phonos are usually added to allow for full resolution sound from SACD and DVD-AUDIO.I think the only recorder I recall playing DVDA(not SACD) in full res is a Panasonic. So that may be worth checking out.
If your surround system lacks coaxial and optical, how does it expect you to sort out 5.1-or is it part of an all in one

No DVD recorder can output what you`ve recorded in DD5.1 - only stereo which your amp will convert to PL (or the superior PLII). Have you thought of flogging your system on ebay and then getting something that fits your new requirements rather than being constrained by a system that doesn`t have the necessary inputs. Any DVDR will output 5.1 for pre-recorded disks. Not sure what your current system has in terms of inputs then. If it doesn`t have Coax or optical, I`m pretty sure it`s not going to have 6 channel direct inputs.
