Hope this helps :)
The number of Scart sockets on your TV can dictate how to connect them .
If your TV has two Scart sockets then do the following.
Freeview TV Scart to AV1 on television.
Freeview VCR Scart to 5005 Scart In (Top I think)
5005 TV Scart (Bottom ) to AV2 on television.
If your TV has only one Scart socket then do the following.
Again I am not exactly sure so I may be wrong as our TV has three Scart sockets.
Freeview TV to 5005 Scart In
5005 Scart Out to TV Scart socket.
After this you simply turn on the Freeview box, press the source button on the 5005 remote until it show the picture/channel the Freeview is set to.
When you want to record you simply select the source and press the Record button and that should be that.
I would get a DVD/RW and phanny about with that until you master the art :)

RE: LITE ON 5005 / FREEVIEW BOX
Help I have the Lite-on 5005 & connecting to a samsung LE32R41BDV which has built in Freeview. I pick up channels 1-5, but not the freeview channels?
Can anyone advise please.......
The LiteOn recorder has no built-in digital tuner - only analogue. Hence it will only record analogue channels 1-5 from its in-built tuner.
To record freeview and in widescreen you will need to connect the DVD recorder up to a suitable digital source.
Your digital TV should output a digital signal from one of it`s scart sockets. Connect this with a scart cable to the appropriate scart socket on the LiteOn (most likely AV1).
To record freeview you will then need select the channel on your TV you wish to record and select AV1/scart as the source on your DVD recorder.

Cheers for reply. I have already tried the scart but ended up with a fuzzy green screen. I will try anbother scart lead although the one I used was a decent one!
Thanks again
