Please help apoel in Cyprus with DVD recorder (read manual)

socks_uk (Competent) posted this on Friday, 11th February 2005, 08:14

Our dvd forum friend apoel is wanting to buy a dvd recorder to play in Cyprus but is in need of one that he can tune in with Cyprus` PAL B/G format.

Please check your manuals (like kevint and myself have done for him) and see if, in the `Additional information` section, it gives any info about PAL B/G tuner.

apoel has already told us that electrical equipment is rather expensive over there so maybe we can all help him.

Jill

thanks a lot socks_uk. really appreciate this. unfortunately, due to limited replies to my posts for help and due to the fact that i was getting really tired and frustraded i just bought a pioneer 220-S.

i know it is not one of the good recorders of the market but i would never pay 630 pounds! to buy a panny E85(yes believe it or not this is the price in Cyprus). i also found the 460 pounds asking price for the pio 520 too hihg(could have bought at least 100pounds less from uk with the CYpound-sterling difference).

so i thought it would have been better to buy a relatively cheap one from here with the prospect of replacing it in a year or so.

not sure i made the right choice(bought the 220-S for 250 from a local store) but at least i found peace!

thanks a lot again my friend and i want you to know that i REALLY APPRECIATE this.

talk again soon.

Thanks for the thanks apoel.

It`s a confusing world out there in `DVD Recorder Land` but there are poeple out there that can help us. It`s a shame `Kevint` hadn`t looked in his manual a couple of days earlier so we could have put this appeal out sooner for you.

Don`t let the lack of replies put you off asking questions in future though, because it could be that the person that might have your answer just didn`t see your question. You`ll see my name popping up a lot more once I start to explore my dvd recorder.

I hope you have fun with your dvd recorder apoel,

Jill

It is a very good recorder. I would have waited for the new Panasonic recorders, however don`t belittle your choice it is a good recorder.
