ASDA Dual 859 Firmware Update?

I Dawson (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 29th January 2005, 15:32

Hi

I purchased a Dual 859 DVD/DivX player from Asda a couple of weeks ago. There seems to be very little info about this machine anywhere.

Does anyone know if there is a firmware update available? It plays DivX files fine, but Xvid files play back jerkily.

Many thanks

Had a similair problem on my Yamada 6700. It wasnt the player , it was the files, something to do with the audio or video stream and the chip that these players use. The chip cant decode the stream properly. But its an easy fix.

You need to get hold of MPEG modifier. You run the app, open the file that is jerky and check a tick box that says Unpack. Save the file with a new name and it should work. Takes about 2 minutes including the opening and saving files.

well on the yamada its just a data disc with the files dropped onto it. I burn a +rw in Nero6 and play it back.
