Philps Widescreen T.V.`s

I`ve got a PhilipsPW36 9525 and the bottom left corner is discoloured. Ive tried everything to shift it - degousing wand, unplugging it etc. I`m on my third set now and my retailer is probably getting very annoyed with me but there is no reason for the set to discolour. Has any body else suffered with this problem, help, please!

Hiya

Just a thought u havnt got a speaker under the corner of your tv have u,I know it sounds silly but my tv did that and it was the speaker from the tv that did it ,when I moved the speaker ,after a few hours the colours went away (it was a surround sound speaker and shouldnt have been there in the 1st place)

Same here - i had a a pair of Tannoy Hi Fi speakers by the side of mine and it caused colour bleeding in one of the corners - i had to move them further away - i believe some speakers use rare earth magnets or something which have an incredibly strong magnetic field - most of the surround centre speakers have sheilding inside as well. Took a few hours for it to dissapear..

It`s amazing how many metal or magnetic objects can cause colour patches on a television if their near it. I`ve known some to be affected by being near a radiator!! As was previously stated, all centre AV speakers are shielded quite heavily to prevent this. My son when he was very young had a small magnet, and like a fool I told him not to put it near the TV screen as it would distort the colour, and, you`ve guessed it, the next day we had a purple patch on the screen!!! If only i`d kept my big mouth shut!

Cheers sam,

There`s no speaker near it, but I think I`ve sussed it. We`ve recently had our room re-plastered and the guys that did it have attached some metal to an edge of the wall to straighten it. I`ve got a feeling that this is the reason, problem is the T.V. is so damn big there`s knowhere else it can go. Nevermind, cheers again!

Bobski,

Just as I`d sorted the colour problem - last night I noticed a line going vertically down the screen!!!!!!!!!!! It`s only when watch DVD`s and PS2, it`s about 2inches thick and runs down the right hand side of the screen. I`m the only person in the house that can see it (the missus thinks I`m mad!) But innit true - wants youve seen it, it bugs the s**t out of you!
