Hi

I realise loads has been written about this player already, but can somene confirm whether the Pacific 1002 mk2 player will play mpegs burnt onto CD/DVD as data files? I have just bought the Pacific 900 and this won`t recognise them.

Many thanks

my 1002w will play mp1/mp2/avi (standard format type, as used in white book standard vcd`s) mp3 & jpg, but it won`t play xvid/divx etc, could this be you`re problem ? i only ask because most of these players will come with the same menu systems, so it "should" play em :/

EDIT=i should say, i`ve got the old "ugly" mk1 version, shouldn`t make a difference tho.

Thanks very much for the info - I`ve got a Pacific 900 & it won`t recognise mpegs at all, didn`t expect it to play DivX, Xvid.

I`m thinking of changing it for a 1002. My old Dansai plays these files no problem.

i`ve had few dansia`s cracking players (especially the original 852, macro off etc) and apart from the macro-off, the 1002w plays many more file types (& reads raw mpg from dvd r)

Burn them as VCD`s and it will, the only players that will play `raw` MPEG footage are the onces that will handle formats like DivX

Could you recommend some good software to use to burn the MPG`s as VCD`s?

Cheers

i`ve got 6 dvd players & all but 1 can play raw mpg 1/2 + avi (standard type) from any media, but they won`t play divx/xvid, and they are all supermarket jobies ;) (except my panasonic)

VCD Gear is ok, but VCDEasy is even better, but I think VCDEasy isn`t freeware anymore-though you may still find a version that is (Anything 1.14 and earlier is still free) If you want me to mail it to you, let me know.

Nero does it too, just select Video CD from the Nero Burning Rom Wizard and drag your MPEGs) across I

Interesting-how do you burn these? As standard data discs? Onto DVD or CD??
