5.1 conversion

Please help.
In a bid to keep thing simple i purchased one of these all in one sub powered speaker set ups.
However when it comes to connection it shows six audio outs coming from the source player into the sub???

I have a Panasonic dmr-e50 and a Mico Clasica both of which don`t offer this amount of outputs.

Is there an adapter of some sort that will give me six audio channels as phono`s?

Or is there a DVD player that actually has these outputs on the back??

I am baffled as the wiring diagram assumes your dvd has these outputs?

Yes and yes.
It`s called an "inbuilt 5.1 decoder" and a "digital 5.1 adapter" or "processor"

Being 100% honest, the extra wiring, cost, hassle etc would mean it`s easier to just buy a 5.1 system from the likes of Asda that takes the same input as the rear of your DVD players` output.

These "needing onboard decoder" systems are getting very few and far between now as most players have either co ax or TOSlink digital outputs.

BTW, I only answered this Q the other day on the hardware forum...I think...

Or am I going nuts.....?

Thanks and i see your point however if you look at the cyberhome dvd 500 region 1 player it has the decoder built in and the 6 phono outputs on the back.

I need that kind of solution ideally.

Any ideas where one can obtain such a machine?

So this system doesn`t have a co-ax input?

No Coax it`s purely phono connectors

Smilerag, there are quite a few players about that will output 5.1 analogue, but there are drawbacks:
1) you need a six way phono cable
2) you cannot get DTS from it
3) you can`t use any of your existing DVD hardware on the new speaker set
4)You can`t simply change the DVD player next time, you need again, to find one with 6 analogue phonos (which are getting fewer by the day!)

Honestly, you can get these co-ax/optical digital in systems now for about £60, so by the time you invest in cables *and* another player, it would be as easy to write off what you`ve lost or try to sell it on to someone else.

Cheers for the feedback on that
to be honest the DTS is not major issue for me yet and i had honestly a need to replace the mico as it was starting to skip a bit.

i ended up getting a pioneer dv-575a with the phono outs on the back

And to be fair the sound honestly kicks and the picture is awesome.

So it`s 75% successful at this point.

cheers
