Page 1 of How to connect DVD to VCR?
Hardware Forum
Tomorrow I will finally be collecting my DVD player. I am getting one which is Macrovision free and thus would like to be able to connect it to my VCR in case I want to "back up" any of my discs. Both the DVD and teh VCR have only one Scart socket (the TV has two)....so how does one go about connecting everything together?
I think the best solution is to get a splitter box for the DVD to go into both the TV and video.
Indeed, but the video also needs to be connected to the TV, and it`s scart socket would then be full with the input from the DVD. Can one get "through-put" scart leads, so the DVD can go to the TV via the VCR? Or would you advise having a more rudimentary co-ax only connection from the VCR to the TV?
Does your TV output the picture back through one of it`s SCARTsockets?
The Tosh I have does.
So the DVD goes into Scart 1 on the TV, the VCR goes into SCART 2 on the TV. The TV outputs whatever channel is being watched to SCART 2.
So, to record DVD, select Scart 1 on the TV and the correct AV input on the VCR.
Does that make sense?!?

Thanks for the advice. I will look closely at the instruction manual for my TV and see if this is the case.
I will let you know on Tuesday how I get on!
