Page 1 of dvd players - dual layer compatability

I`m thinking of buying a dual layer burner to replace my old pioneer 105.
I understand that there are compatability issues between dual layer burners and most players (and DVD readers for that matter).

I have searched the for this info but have had limited results.

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced player which claims to be compatible with home burned dual layer discs? :D

Ive got a Dual layer writer and from my expariance, its down to the media you use. Ive found Traxdata disks no good, not even in the writer that wrote it. I have however had great results with Verbitin one`s. Make sure you set "booktype" on them as "DVD-ROM" and you won`t have much bother with them.

I think most of the compatability issues with DVD+ has being down to this booktype setting. I have had no problems if they are set to "DVD-ROM". (And please, do not let this start another + vs - argument, I would not want to be responsible for starting one, thankyou all.)

It`s not really known yet as Dual Layer burning is still in it`s infancy. I`ve only used one dual layer disc in the 6 months I`ve had a dual layer burner because the discs are a-hard to find and b-bloody expensive!!

The disc I did burn plays fine on the players I`ve got, that`s all I can say really.
