Which is better. LG 3200E for £140 or Samsung DVD511 for £170?
Both I think are multiregion via remote control.
Anyone offer an opinion, perhaps they have one and know of problems with them, speak...tell your tale...

RE: LG 3200 vs SAMSUNG 511
i used to have a LG3200E, it had problems playing certain discs (jerky unwatchable picture). got a replacement LG 3200E and it had the same problems, so i got my money back and bought a Samsung 511.
Since then i`ve had no problems, plus IMHO, the picture quality is a lot better than the LG.
go for the Samsung.
No No No! (You must of had a faulty batch!).
My LG is great - multi region, RCE compatibale, and it looks very nice! I`ve had no problems with the picture at all (and if one did occure, you can always replace the machine with LG within the first year!).
The only problem disc I have come across is X-men, but loads of people are having trouble with this (see software forum!).
If you can pick up the Sammy for a bit less I would go for that.
John Lewis do it for £150 with a 2 year guarentee and empiredirect have it for a bit cheaper I think. Theres not much to choose between the two but for me the Samsung looks better and has a slightly better picture.
HTH
My first player was the LG. I was happy with it. My brother owns the 511. As we often would swap, lend and watch movies at each others houses I noticed that films looked a lot better on the Samsung.
Stuff like the Crow and early edition of Se7en look terrible on the LG but look fine and the Samsung. I then decided to return my LG after 1 months ownership and bought the Samsung for £170.00.
So, mate go for the 511 me and my three brothers all have and its multi regio hackable if that concerns you.
By the way John Lewis is doing it for £137.00. Hopefully, Currys should do as another Brother bought one from there last Friday and we got them to price match. During the sale I asked if price matching was only for the sharp eyed so to speak and the scamp like young sales man told me that it was company policy to phone through the price match to head office and then bring down the prices across tha land. ho ho .
1 - 0 to the consumer.
good luck mate.
Pete.
by the way DVD ownership is similar to buying a PC. You can sit on the fence comparing players and prices forever. Meanwhile, your missing out on some top movie action.
RE: LG 3200 vs SAMSUNG 511
I phoned my local Currys and asked about price matching. They said it only counts if the item is in stock within 10 miles of their store. Bugger!
He reckoned to know nothing about the policy of lowering prices all over the country using the, I`ve been here 4 years...
Am slightly narked but will go for the Samsung anyway even at a higher price.

Which John Lewis sells the 511 for £137???....i just phoned JL in Brent Cross so i could get my local Currys to price match and they quoted £167...Where do you folks live?
John Lewis in Bristol, at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway.
100% fact that they have them in. Surely, the prices should be level across the UK.
Pete.
