Hi, can anyone explain to me as simple as possible, about cd-r/cd-rw and dvd-r/rw. On a dvd recorder can i record onto a cd-r disc to watch proggs off tv/sky etc? Also will a dvd+rw machine play dvd-rw discs? And will most dvd players that are cd-r cd-rw play dvd-r and dvd-rw/+rw that i record off a recorder that specifies this format.
Confusing? I hope not to somebody!........Dave

no, forget about cd-r they are too small (capacity wise) fo movies, a dvd recorder records to dvd r`s most new recorders will play all the modern formats but only record to 1 or 2 types of media tbh theres not much to choose from in brands, tho i`d (personaly) not bother with philips recorders. pannasonic machines are Very reliable but slightly hindered by the lack of rw support (although i don`t find this a problem) best thing to do is trawl through the threads & make up you`re own mind ;)

The Lite-On recorder can write to CD-r as well as DVD`s-you can wrie to them at VCD quality (Roughly similar to VHS) they will hold 70 minutes of footage.

Though with DVD media so cheap, is it worth it?
