Page 1 of Philips DVDR890 problems - help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Have a DVDR890 recorder - recently, I cannot record with it. It seems to record , with the record countdown. But at the end, it shows these on its screen:

INIT MENU then POSTFORMT then it goes blank and later it reads DISC ERR.

I have tried re-setting the recorder to factory settings and starting again with the setup, but I still keep getting the same error message.

What`s up? Can someone help me get my recorder back!!!!

Have you tried updating to the latest firmware available on www.dvdplusrw.org

There doesn`t sem to be a fix at the link provided.
Do I just go to the service centre?
