german electrical plug and uk plug info req

im thinking of getting getting an electrical appliance from germany off ebay that i cant get here. so what id like to know is can i fit a uk plug on the flex or would i have to use an adaptor

You can fit a UK plug. Germany uses (more or less) the same voltage as us, so there`s no need to use a transformer or anything like that.

yes or they could be white and black white=live black=neutral

If you didn`t want to change the plug, you can buy a a UK plug that the German one plugs into...My satellite receiver has one of those, and it works just fine

id rather change the plug incase i ever wanted to sell the appliance,people might be put off.i just nedd the exact wirre colours

Germany uses the international standard (Brown=Live, Blue=Neutral, Green/Yellow=Earth). There`s also an older standard - Black=Live, Grey=Neutral, Red=Earth - but I don`t think you`d find that on a modern appliance.

Unless you flog it back to someone in mainland Europe!!!

It was jut an option..of course, if you did want to sell it, then you could always put a UK plug on then.
