DAB tuners & optical leads

I am feeding my Panasonic E55 audio to a digital input on my amp down an optical lead and am pleased with the results.
Question is, is there any point feeding my dab tuner down an optical lead to a digital input, inpreference to using the phono leads? I have heard no station transmits in multi channel so I am wondering if it is pointless to use an optical lead.

DAB doesn`t have surround in it`s spec (but someone correct me if I`m wrong).
DAB technology is based on very old mpeg layer 2 technology which give digital audio at varing bit rates.. but the bit rate allocation is usually very low.. low when you consider that today we may us ethe same bit rates, but now employ it to layers 3 and now layer 4 AAC. So to answer your question, no you won`t have to bother about connecting it up for MCA.

if your system lets you record a optical signal i.e a dab tuner you will be able to record in digital and listen to a digital station. i use minidisc to record on and the recording is all digital, i also have a sharp 1 bit digital system. listening to a full digital recording through optical is totally different to a analogue sound
