bought this 8x dual layer writer last week got some 8x ritek ridisc dvd-r but will only burn @ 4x with nero any one else had this trouble ? >:(

Yes had the same problem,you need to flash the drive

See here for the hacked firmware - I think 1.07 v2 beta 5 is the one you want.

Which firmware? This is a dual layer drive isn`t it? Does it make it quicker?

Yes and no! You can flash it back to the original firmware if you need to, so they won`t necessarily know you`ve flashed an unofficial version. On the other hand, if the flash process buggers up and renders the drive useless, you`ve got no comeback.

If you don`t want to take the risk, you might want to ditch the Riteks and try the grey Datawrite discs with Fujifilm dye. They`re £8.99 for 25 from SVP.
