Scan XSVCD,XVCD and bitrates - f/w upgrade possibility ?

PiR8 (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 13th March 2001, 08:32

I have a Scan SC2000 and was wondering if anyone has managed to get it to play an XSVCD or higher bit rate burnt cdr
I am converting my home DV output onto a more durable medium , but find the quality of svcd at a max of 2500 very poor
I would like to be able to output something closer to dvd quality or at least a lot less blockier and obviously this require a higher bit rate

Nelley - could these features possibly be added in a f/w release ??

XSVCD and XVCD are not a standard, some players support them some dont. but the players that do, all do so in ther own way! ie diffrent bitrates, diffrent screen sizes ect.. The Scan player Does support them both. check out www.vcdhelper.com for more info on XVCD and XSVCD.
All so the Blockeness can be down to other settings in the encoder you use other than the bitrate.

just burnt the test image from vcdhelper for xsvcd at 3500 bits and it works fine
anyone know the maximum bit rate the scan can handle for an xsvcd ?
