RE: Sony The perfect DVD Player NOT!
May I ask what player you have?
RE: Sony The perfect DVD Player NOT!
You left out the Sony DAV S300, let me add it to your list - Bloody perfect, fantastic sound plays everything wiv no problem. Unlike my previous player the crap scam 2000 which had crap sound, crap picture and a crap firm selling it. After 3 different players I told scam not to bother with a 4th as I was getting a real dvd player and not a fisher price attempt.

RE: Sony The perfect DVD Player NOT!
I`m not defending sony but.....
Ok the biggest (or one of the biggest) suppliers of dvd players in the world and you produced a big list .. well done.
Now take Scan (which I`m guessing you may have), a small uk company importing a beta product (hey guys just test version 99.99999 firmware for us and any problems will be sorted next week with version 999.999999999) and the posts on this site alone would be 4 or 5 times this size, Sony do make quality products - some have problems - most do not ( and no I don`t have a sony I have a cheapo eclipse from RS which I`m very happy with)..
So whats the point of listing the faults like that - unless you can help people why enjoytheir problems.
Now where the Bear?
RE: Sony The perfect DVD Player NOT!
can i just point out how hilarious that list is - that`s such a load of bollocks!
90% of those can be attributed to a DISC fault, otherwise they`d repeat with any disc, and on other players.
the guy who said "Problem Inserting disc produces smug message thatthe disc will not play on `modified` Region 1 players. This is despite the fact that other Columbia Region 1 releases work fine as do all my other Region 1 discs (so far)" deserves a round of applause for the most stupid "complaint" ever - ROFL!
well done mate, you bought a bad multi-mod that doesn`t support RCE - you twat. don`t blame sony for it.

The point is that any one reading posts form sony owners may be given the impression that all sony products are perfect.
I was simply trying to point out that thay may be very good but not perfect. as some would have you think.
why an i saying this about the sony and no other brand?
because i have not heard owners of other brands say how perfect there brand of player is. All the other owners are humble and do admit imperfections, however they do say how good they think there players are also.
so if you think sony is perfect and i have upset you, wake up no brand is perfect. They all have problems.
and if your looking to buy a player get out and look at as many as you can, ask what is wrong with them as well as what is right.(if the answer to whats wrong is nothing they are perfect, the discount any thing that this person is saying to you, as there opion is misleading you.) Brand should not be the reasion to buy a product alone. What you need it to do, what is does do and how well it does it should be.
And for those that whish to know I own a Scan 2000 and of course this player is PERFECT! }:>)
as you all know.

RE: Sony The perfect DVD Player NOT!
I think this illustrates that the DVD format and DVD players are a new technology and no player is perfect. DVD isn`t at the cutting edge - it`s the bleeding edge!
toy car owns a toy player scan 2000.
Dont blame Sony for dirty or faulty discs.
Scan owners motto is " we are a brotherhood we have all owned each others players at one time or another".
Sony products are of a quality that your noodle factory produced scans will never attain to, I would gues that at least 7 out of ten scans are faulty when they leave the factory, and the other three go wrong wihin 3 months.
Never read on the forums on any body having upto 3 different Sony machines replaced because of faults, same can`t be said of scan.
Me and my bro-inlaw are into are second year of trouble free Sony DVD ownership not a single problem with the machines at all.
By the time you lot have bought your scan, paid for all your expensive telephone calls, time lost from work waiting for replacments you could have bought a Sony ,Toshiba ,Pioneer, Hitachi, all good brand makes and had change to buy a load of films has well!
The latest posting on scan customer service are a disgrace!

Well yes you can blame sony for it. If sony made the player work with discs without a mod, then this guy would not have a problem and the sony would be a step closer to being perfect.
