Cyberhome 505 Multi Region problems since Upgrading Firmware

Robin Smart (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 19th March 2004, 12:01

I wonder if anyone is able to help. My Cyberhome 505 was multiregional - purchased as multiregional from Richard Sounds and it worked. I wanted to play Jpeg files so have updated the firmware to version 20763 which seems to work well. However, it is now stuck on Region 2 and I can`t alter it. I have tried the 1111 fix and although I can get into the menu, when I get to the region setting, although i can highlight it, it won`t let me change the setting to anything. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks Robin.

I think you should just update your firmware again, using an amended version.

It`s possible that you, or the new firmware, have set the region permanently (can`t remember the option - something about a table).

I found these threads very helpful:

I downloaded the cyberhome update, downloaded the utility `abcof` as suggested in the forum, and made the necessary changes, and now my machine is region-free.

I`ve never done this before, and it was a very easy process.

Alternatively download someone else`s cracked version.

Thanks Rabid for replying. I`ll give it a try and see what happens.

Thanks
