I have the 5100,which is the same machine but with HDD.The machine performs excellently, and -RW is certainly more helpful than RAM.With the new Pioneers you can have Timeslip if you want, and you can choose whether to have editing functions or the ability to play -RW in other players. Its good to have the choice.
The downside is no RGB input, but if you use Sky+ you can use s-video.Other forums suggest the internal tuner is pretty poor, but if you stick to digital tv,as you should, there won`t be any problems

I have a pioneer 3100 and also sky+ - can anyone tell me how to get the best picture quality as the picture is good when recording to dvd but not quite as sharp as originial. I have a scarts going through tv - dvd - sky+ box. I have set the dvd recorder up as follows - video out - av1 - set to rgb, video out - av2 - set to decoder. these are the setting that the manual recommends - when i change the video out to s-video the picture goes to black and white. can anyone advise.
