MICO R311 - Any help greatfully appreciated !!!

ali.h (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 25th January 2004, 12:09

I`ve just bought a Mico R311 - ( literally "just bought", it`s still downstairs in its box). This is my first DVD and I`m not great at setting things up so, before I start, does anyone have any tips they can pass on?
Guess I better go open the box and start looking at the instructions so that any tips will make some sense to me.
Cheers :/

RTM - Study it & set it up as it says, especially the part where it states about setting up from the FRONT PANEL not the remote control (if I remember correctly).

Most set up & configuration points are covered on this thread "MICO Espejo R311. DVD Recorder. I have one. First thoughts."

Thanks for your message. I read the instructions (!). Turned the TV off, plugged in the DVD. First message was "WAIT", followed by "TV ONP" then nothing.
Really disappointed that I cant seem to get past turning it on

Hi Rassilon63,
Well, I went back over the messages and finally got it to do something after I added a scart between the TV and the DVD.....
Everything seemed to be going well as it searched and found channels. Then came a message telling me to exit by pressing "system". Yippee I thought, reached for the remote only to discover that the whole bottom panel of function buttons was missing!!!!
Is it me? Hadn`t occurred to me to compare the picture of the remote with the remote itself, just assumed the right remote would be in the box >:(
So, tomorrow I will have to go back to Sainsbury. Hopefully, they will have a replacement, but with the way things are going so far, I`m not feeling optimistic.
Maybe this is just one of the quality control problems mentioned in the other thread.
Cheers
Ali

Before you go rushing back to Sainsbury`s, check your remote again. There is a small flap that opens near to the bottom which reveals more buttons.

please, please, PLEASE don`t take it back because of a "incomplete" remote, because i`m afraid you WILL be laughed at! As stated in a previous posting, LIFT THE FLAP!!!!! otherwise, enjoy it m8 good choice ;)

What can I say....... I am mortified.
Thank you for saving me the even greater public humiliation of standing in Sainsburys with my "I`m not happy face - >:( " only to be left feeling an even bigger twit than I feel right now.

I`ll return to the setting up this evening - wish me luck

**Slightly less hung over post (drinking before, during & after my train trip back to Kent last night) & not having being aggravated by a user trying to circumvent the procedures to get his printer looked at .**

As with all things it pays to the read the manual & I dont usually follow my own advice except in the Mico`s case, because it was pointed out very early in the original thread that you had to connect it while powered down & that you had to use the front panel.

Dont be to hard on yourself, we learn from our mistakes - Some of my errors of judgement have left me looking extremely stupid (in front of all my in laws :( ), by blowing up my own TV that I was selling mother in law, while diagnosing a fault.

Best of luck & support is here should you need it.
