Page 1 of SC2000 V2.14 and SVCD
Hardware Forum
Scooby Doo has told me he cannot play SVCD`s when he is using the new firmware 2.14.
He was able to play them on his old box, but it`s been replaced with a 2.06 box which he has upgraded to 2.14. He never tried the SVCD before upgrading so he doesn`t know if it`s the box that won`t play it, or if the firmware has disabled it.
I don`t have any SVCD`s, but could someone else give it a test.
Thanks,
NiVZ.
I`ve tried playing a SVCD with jpeg images. It worked on all previous firmware versions (1.64 to 2.08), but the disk is just ejected with 2.14.
I`ve reverted to 2.08 and it now plays.
Something must have changed in 2.14 firmware.
I have played a svcd on my machine-(v2.06) but i havent upgraded it yet so i cant comment if the upgrade affects it.

I created a MP3 disc to check out MP3 playback on V2.14.
Everything appears fine.
So the problem is only with SVCD.
Hello NiVZ, just like to let you know that my SCAN now plays SVCD no more. My machine has a firmware version 2.14, the official firmware upgrade form nelley.
BTW can you give me the link to your FAQ site? Thanks.
RE: SC2000 V2.14 and SVCD
Xeno, thanks for your answer concerning upgrades the other day.
I have printed out the FAQ from NiVZ and I believe my Firmware to be 1.8? the machine is approx. 6 months old and I have had no problems with any disc`s region 1, region 2, VCD or MP3. Is it worth trying to upgrade something that seems to work ok. Am I missing out on something by not upgrading?
Is there a list of the revisions to the firmware explaining what each upgrade achieves?
Hope you can help.
I have determined that I am using Scart at RGB format.

My links page is http://members.scotland.com/NiVZ/scan
There you`ll be able to get firmware v1.80, v2.14 and the latest FAQ.
If you search the threads you`ll find that hdubios posted a list of firmware revisions.
NiVZ.
P.S If you really need to us SVCD you can downgrade to v2.08 (Macro Enabled) or v2.04s (Macro Disabled).
Time to kick some korean butts regarding svcds. Will try and get them to
incorporate it into the next "long mp3 filenames" upgrade.

Welcome back Nelley, where have you been?
I`ve noticed a little MP3 bug that I can`t figure out. I`ve burned a disc with 73 mp3 files in different dirs and on one track it skips the first second of audio.
I`m using a CD-RW and I`ve tried burning the file by itself, using ISO9660 and DOS filesystems, and using 128kbps and 160kbps sample rates, and I`ve burned the disc with both Nero and EZCD. It only does it on this one track which starts with vocals only for the first second. All other MP3`s appear to play fine.
I`ve tried this using FW v1.80 and v2.14.
Anyone have any suggestions.
NiVZ.
