SCAN SC2000 FIRMWARE v1.80 WANTED

NiVZ (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 14th February 2001, 11:46

Could someone send me firmware v1.80 which they have used successfully. I`m thinking of downgrading, and then re-upgrading.

I`ll put it up on my site with a fixed link as well so those that need it can do a downgrade before upgrading with the latest firmware.

TIA

NiVZ.

What`s wrong with the copy @ http://hdubois.free.fr/scan ?
I have download this but not used it yet.

Is firmware V2.14 not working correctly ?

I was about to give it a try from version 1.6 when my scan (1 week old)
died while in standby ! The 3 A plug fuse was blown & on replacement still no life.
Its being returned to Scan.

I just want to use one thats been tested, or better still the official one from Nelley at Scan (which I`ve asked him for)

Nelley from Scan doesn`t know where the hdubios website got his v2.14 firmware from, and can`t say whether it`s VCR friendly or not.

The one he sent me is straight from the manufacturer`s and is definitely VCR friendly.

downloaded your version of 2.14 NiVZ, seems to work fine, though I had to downgrade to 1.80 first
is it the official release?
not tested the vcr friendly status yet
I have 1.80 on a cdr, I can drag it off, zip it up, and mail it you if you want?

Yes please send me v1.80. Preferrably drag it off the CD, ZIP it and then send me the ZIP file.

The verison from my site is the official version 2.14 from Nelley.

Why did you have to downgrade first?

As far as I know it fixes these problems:

MP3 ID tags are back on (they disappeared in 2.11)
Remote Delay fixed
No Blue Shadows
No Skipping
Better R1 Lip Sync

The Dynamic Range slider in Audio setp is still messed up though.

Thanks,

NiVZ.

Gamesmaster : Where did you get your V1.8 firmware copy from ?

Also reading past discussions, I have seen a comment that after adding the firmware file to a CD-R, the structure is like a VCD. When I have done this (to NiVZ FAQ instructions) I just have the tdvd-000.rom file on the route directory of the CD. Is that how it should be ?

The CD should only have the tdvd-000.rom in the root directory.

I think the person that had the VCD directories must have used the VCD wizard by mistake.

Nivz

How come your downgrading and reupgrading to 2.14.

Does picture quality suffer after upgrading to 2.14?

I downgraded to 1.80 then up to 2.08s and did not notice any difference in picture quality.

Xeno - I noticed some blockyness in dark areas in Final Destination and The Crow. Also on the white walls in American Psycho. I also get some white shadows cast across the screen with things like stars.

This was present in v2.08, but I never noticed it until I watched these films. I`m trying a downgrade and then upgrade to see what happens.

Everyone else seems happy with v2.14 (as am I apart from these bugs).

Funny thing is other dark movies like the Matrix and Fight Club play fine.
