Digital Cameras?

handsome.b.wonderful (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 3rd December 2003, 08:42

I`m looking to invest in a semi-decent digital camera for around the 200-250 Euro mark, however, it must be compatible with the Panasonic SD memory cards so that I can upload the images onto my Panasonic home cinema projector. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on make/models or even on reliable online retailers? Not sure about the spec but a decent zoom and 2 million pixels minimum is a must.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated...

My local Ofice World has a Praktica 3.2MP (Digital Zoom only :( ) £79 & takes SD cards if I recall correctly. Erased the model details from my PDA.

I have just bought the Kodak DX 6340 I got it from Boots online & they are doing it for 33% off this + the code for first time buyer (off internet via Google) makes it £149-00. They also sent a free Yves st laurant lipstick & a voucher for 3 cuddly toys. I have a FUJI that is fantastic, but I`ve had it 2 years & there is no zoom. The Kodak is 3.1 MegaPix & has a 4Xs Optical zoom, also digital zoom, 16 MB internal memory & takes the SD cards

Thanks Paul, I just read a (very extensive) review for the Kodak DX6340, see below, very positive feedback and it sounds perfect for my needs. What code are you talking about for first time buyers?

I`m not sure if the moderators will let me post the codes, but put in promotion codes for the store you want on Google.

Just ordered the Kodak from Boots along with a carry case and some batteries, then entered the promotion code which worked (thanks) and was very happy with the overall price.... finally clicked on my postal address and... "sorry we do not ship overseas". Sometimes living in Ireland makes you feel like you`re on another bloody planet.

Thanks anyway, I`ll try and find another retailer who`s not operating in the middles ages.

What a shame. I have to say I contacted boots over my camera & they were always very polite, far better than most. Could you have it sent to someone in the Mainland first otherwise if you want the Kodak then Amazon do it for £159-00 & in their other (New & used section) from £145-00

Had a look at Amazon but there`s a 1 to 2 week wait and I really want to get it for Xmas... the search continues.
