Unable to disable macro on scan 2000 with 2.08 firmware...HELP!!!

Gamesmaster (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 5th February 2001, 21:18

have burnt this firmware version on a cdr, and installed it as per
instructions, and I am having the following problems.
I do NOT get the "writing" message on the blue screen, as the instructions
say, all I get up is a TDVD-000.ROM mesage on a blue screen, the display of the DVD player says loading, then after a couple of mins it ejects. I power off, power on,
check the firmware revision and i get these in the menu
TDVD-000.ROM as downloaded file name
and 00208 as main version
is the flash upgrade now done???
secondly, when I try to disable the macro, NOTHING changes on the screen after I have pressed the setup button, and then when I check the macro status, I get 0000003, which accordng to instructions means macro is still enabled
any ideas??
Are ALL dvd movies macro protected???????

Macro is disabled as soon as you run 2.08 if you downgrade to 1.80 and back to 2.08s

Not all movies have macro.

I have run 2.80 and macro is NOT disabled, I have only 1 scart on my telly and hence watch it "through" the video, which is not possible due to the macrovision, I have to plug the dvd direct into the telly, otherwise the picture keeps cutting out, colour loss ect, in other words macrovision

When I upgraded from 2.06 to 2.08s Macro was still enabled for me. I used the remote Macro Hack (SETUP, STEP, TITLE, PREV) then played the DVD for a short time and that disabled it.

If you downgrade to 1.80 and then back up to the latest what does the number beside your decoder change to? Is it 00000000, 00000001 or 00000003.

Mine was still 00000003 even though Macro was disabled. I`m using 2.11 at the moment so it doesn`t really matter - Macro is always on. Can`t wait for the next firmware ;-)

donwgraded to 1.80, then back up to 2.08 remote hack then worked fine
number is still 00000003 though
