Is anyone else having problems playing audio CD`s ? My player `freezes` randomly. It plays DVD`s and MP3 CD`s OK. Scan have advised me to try cleaning the lens - no difference ! They are now delaying things by advising I upgrade the F/W - I can`t see how this can fix the problem. If all this fails then I have to pay to return it to them - even though I have had this problem since the unit was delivered to me !!!!!!

Try upgrading to v2.08,it will sort the problem out. scan

But, Barry Moss who works at Scan has sent me V2.04s to upgrade my DVD player. Will V2.04s also fix the problem ? What are the differences between V2.04s and 2.08 ?

I had the audio CD problem too and upgrading to 204s fixed it.

Hi,
My problem seems a little different in that my SC2000 will not recognise when the Beatles ‘1’ album is in the tray. This CD works fine with the other CD players we have, but I get a ‘No Disc’ message when I try to play this one with the SC2000.
I’ve had no problems with any other CD’s or DVD’s, and have tried other compilations with 20+ tracks. Could it be firmware??
I`ve eMailed Scan 3 times now, but have yet to have a reply.

I have now swapped out my DVD player for a new unit last week - I did need a firmware upgrade (currently at V2.08) but my current unit did not support upgrade. Audio CD`s now seem to play OK - but now it won`t play my R2 Disney DVD disk !!

Nelly, is this a defininitive message that the audio CD problems were definitely firmware related, or does upgrading the firmware work around a hardware limitation?
I think, from my own experience the freezing was probably hardware, the refusal to recognise long discs was a firmware problem.

Early firmware versions had trouble with longer CDs, my player v1.64 would not play the new Beatles album (which is 79 minutes long for Gods sake, I`m surprised ANYTHING plays it!) or the Texas greatest hits CD. My new Scan, v2.06 plays both of these now.
You obviously have an older SC2000, which is unfit for the purpose (playing CDs), get Scan to give you a replacement with the latest firmware.
