What DVD for £250?

DAVEDELLOR (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 18th January 2001, 16:27

Hi - i wonder if anyone can help.
I have yet to buy a DVD Player, but i have a couple in mind and was wondering how important a couple of features are. I am looking at the Hitachi 505E (with built in decoder & 1 Scart socket) or the Philips DVD756 (without built in decoder, but 2 Scart sockets).
My questions are: How useful is a built in decoder? and is it necessary to have 2 Scart sockets?
Maybe you know of another?
If anyone can give me some suitable advice, it would be massively appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Leemus

The second scart is usefull full for linking to the VCR to record movies is you have macro-disable.

The Digital decoder isnt that useful unless you just have an amp(with no decoders), most new amps that you buy these day`s have built in decoders.

If you choose the 505, I will see ya at the Syndicate.

tut tut Dukester..just when I thought you were good for advice, you go and throw it all away! lol
The 2nd scart is just a "pass through" to allow a vCR to connect to the same scart socket, nothing more, nothing less.

I`m sure there are plenty of 505 owners there to keep ya company though! LMAO!!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!
