REPLACEMENT SCAN -WORSE THAN FIRST ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

xeno (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 18th January 2001, 14:45

I have just recieved my replacement sc2000 from scan.
I was delighted to see that the machine did not have a large score on it like the first one did.

It does however have appaling playback through the rgb.The pixellitaion is very apparant (whereas the first one did not show a sign of this). There are lines on the picture that can be seen clearly-it looks like vhs rather than dvd.

I cant believe this is machine 2 and its worse -why cant i get a 100% machine?????????

Scan i hope that this can be sorted out quickly as i have had to take 3 days off awaiting the original and replacement machine and my patience is running out quickly.

I realy cant understand why you lot put up with this, you work hard for your money and 175 quid plus aint cheap,

Just get a refund and buy a brand name.

Why do you keep asking them to send you more of the same old rubbish, it just puzzles me.

I bet Bernie wont be buying one now!

I must say, as I have in other postings that I agree with you wasp.

For gods sake why don`t all these scan ownvers just buy a decent branded player (a multi-region Pioneer 535 is available at www.hifistore.co.uk for 200 quid for christs sake), and stop clogging up these forums with their constant witterings.

"Oooh mummy my DVD players gone wrong, booo hooo hoooo, snivel..." etc etc.

Hope this helps!

(No doubt here come some responses saying things like "branded players are the same as cheap ones just with a different badge" etc., but how many users of decent branded players have posted their problems on this site? Very few I think you will find.....)

Pioneer multi-region is £220 at www.hifistore.co.uk. Looks good though and it is black (which I would prefer to match existing equipment). Only thing it doesn`t seem to do is play MP3s. Any other black multi-region players around at this sort of price that play MP3s? If not I might forgo the MP3 option. Any adverse comments on the Pioneer?

Remember, you are entitled to a refund if the machine is faulty first
time. But most people wouild prefer another try.Email yelsew[at]ku.oc.nacs
and he will organise it to be picked up and refunded. We did sell 5k players last month retail and wholesale i wouild expect some returns.
Its a 5% return rate which is 500 players. No wonder you hear about it.
Count the number of actuall posts you have had on the forum in the last
month and look at it as a %.

Most people buy the sc-2000 for the mp3 function which the branded
players do not have.

Why don`t you just use software like Adaptec Easy CD Creator to burn your MP3`s as cd-audio tracks onto your CD-R`s, and then play that?

Alright, you may not be able to get anywhere near as many tracks as you could if they were MP3`s because of the larger size of the track, and it is a bit of a "means to an end" but is this such a problem in the long term, when dedicated MP3 player separates units come onto the market and you just plug one into your receiver?

For comments on the Pioneer ask Rubens Gonzalez - although ask him nicely, as he`s a very crass man.

5,000 players in a month sounds quite a lot to me. Maybe it`s not that bad if the 95% not returned are happy with theirs. By the way 5% returned is 250 players not 500. If it`s 500 returned the 10% sounds a bit high for a return rate.
Who is Rubens Gonzalez though?

Apart from mp3, another good ability of the scan that branded machines usually don`t have is the ability to read CD-R , XVCD, SVCD .
This is very important for me, counting as much as the DVD replay.
