Unlikely Title: LG3350 Problem!

Barton (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 12th January 2001, 00:48

I think I have a problem with my otherwise great LG.

The drive unit is noisy, especially noticeable through quiet scenes. I have tried a number of discs - all the same. Sounds like something is rubbing in the DVD as it spins. I thought, from postings here and other sources, it would not be this way.

Has anyone else suffered from this, or am I being overly sensitive?

It should be a very quiet player, so I don`t think it`s normal.
Did it make this noise from the start?
How long have u got your player?

I took delivery from Dabs on 22/12/00 and it was like this from then.

You may get a little `seeking` noise when navigating menus depending on how they have been authored. But during normal playback there should be no audible noise. You should have to put you ear against the player to hear anything at all.

Agree with ITTroll - the player is very quiet in normal play mode, but does make a bit of a noise when you move through menus. The only time I`ve had significant noise from it was when I put in an mp3 CD-R in a format it couldn`t read - it sounded like it wanted to take off.

The player makes a noise when seeking, but settles into a different whirring/rubbing noise when just playing. It is present at all times, but especially noticable in quiet scenes.

Looks like I`ll have to contact a relevant party then!

Probably have a huge problem getting a replacement, if necessary.

Anyone have any advice on who I should try first: Dabs or LG?
