New Philips 711 already hacked?

purejunk (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 10th January 2001, 10:22

Hi all:
I just bought a Philips dvd711 and to my suprise, when opening the box, I found a photocopied green sheet of paper which said that this particular model was a multi-region player, and that no remote hack was necessary.
Unfortunately I don`t have any Region 1 dvds to test this out with.
How is this possible? Anyone else have this?
Thanks.

Several suppliers perfomed the remote hack before distributing them.

I have a 711 with this hack and it works very well.

I live in Belgium and got it from a wholesaler called BIGGS (something like a Tesco or a Dixon, I believe).
I`m very impressed with the picture and sound quality of the DVD711 (but I`m no tech expert - show me any DVD player in action and I`ll be blown away!). The one thing I don`t like is its on-screen interface: it`s not very intuitive. Otherwise it`s a very good budget player (I paid mine £159 hacked and all!)

Hi,
Yeah, it was a promotion (should still last a couple of days). I paid 9999 BF for it....
