That is very odd sounds like a problem with your tv

Is the DVD player routed straight into the TV?

Try unplugging the rf lead on your tv as this can often cause interference, a good quality scart lead can normally sort this out!

It`s the infamous "pin 19" problem again! See here:

mike

i have tried all day today to rectify this problem .the cut pin 19 is a non starter as it does not make one iota of difference. unlike the problem stated my trouble lies in watching sky-not dvd which is fine-but on sky i constantly get the ghost effect of other channels or a fine vertical line scrolling left to right.

so far in an attempt to cure my problem i have:

1. borrowed good quality leads(somewhat expensive!)
2. cut pin 19 at t.v. end of scart
3.fitted a variable attenuator to my rf lead(hoping that the whole system was overloading).i do have a very strong rf signal
4.replaced my outside rf aerial input with a small indoor aerial from asda

all of these to no avail

BUT WAIT

if i remove my rf input or change tv to a channel with nothing tuned to it my probs disappear (s***ty solution but.....) though if being critical the picture is somewhat grainy.do not think i am trying to pick holes in ur suggestion but i would be very keen to rectify my own prob if anyone can help! come on there must be SOME way to do it!

cheers

Hmmm... that`s a tricky one. I presume you have:

DVD -> TV SCART 1
SKY -> TV SCART 2

or something along those lines.

What is the Sky digibox connected to apart from your TV? Do you have a VCR connected somewhere as well? I just want to get an idea of how you`ve got everything set up.

I have the same problem with my tv and the only solution is to leave the rf lead out! Not a very good solution but there you are.

thanks all i have found out that it was the VCR causing the interferance, connected up differently not using the scart and it is perfect

I am glad you have found a solution but I think the problem is related to one I have already addressed elsewhere on this site, namely that there are two different kinds of scart on the back of your TV. Never mind what your instruction manual tells you, plug the DVD into the non-RGB one so that you make an S-VHS connection. This will solve the banding problem you have been having.

This may well be what you did by rearranging your VCR.
