Mission M71i`s or Wharf 8.1`s ? Or any other speakers
for around £100 to be used for both music & "Home Entertainment"(DVD) purposes. Any ideas/preferences. Would prefer shielded ones cos one will be close to telly. Thanks in advance.

Cheers Nelliboy Have seen these on offer but they are a bit too imposing for my purposes(and missus might have heart attack if she walked in and saw them). Looking for something a bit more subtle in the way of bookshelf speakers.

Sorry...forget last comment. I just had an image in my mind as to how tall these speakers are and only now realise they are prob same height as my current speakers which are on a stand.

They are floorstanders, probably about 3 foot tall. They have them as part of a surround package which shows them next to some bookshelf speakers.

If you`re choosing between Mission and Wharfedale (and assuming you`ve auditioned them both and like the sound equally), then positioning may dictate the answer. Missions are recommended to stand around 18* from the walls (rear firing port), whereas Wharfedales can stand much closer (even right up to the wall).

Ta very much for that info Neon. I honestly didn`t know about the issue of positioning with respect to speakers with rear bass ports.
