RE: Bargain home cinema systems
Richersounds are selling Limit DAVS400 for £120, and the DVD player in this package is the LimitDVD8070 and cost £80 alone, so I think it is a excellent package. I haven`t listened to it but you should definitely go and have a look at one of their stores.
Hi
Thanks for the link,I have just taken a look at the spec and it seems good for its price,I was thinking of the lennox system from Safeways but this looks better with the radio tuner.
Was it multi region from the box or have you got a hack for it ?
I put in this code to unlock the multi region
1. Press the Open/Close button on the unit to open the drive tray. 2. Using your remote control, press the buttons 8, 4, 2 and 1, in order and one at a time.
3. Press the Enter button on the remote to change the region to 1
for Region 1, 2 for Region 2, and so on, or change it to 9 for
multi-region playback.
4. Press the Open/Close button on the unit to close the drive tray.
Thanks again for the hack,
Have you used all the different formats in the machine, will it play everything okay.
It will be at Easter that I will have the money to buy one, there seems to be lots of higher prices advertised for it and a very simillar system with a different speaker package.
I would still like to hear your review and views on the machine just to make sure it is as good as it sounds, you dont happen to have a link to a review of it,I have been to the Maxim website.
Thank You

Try and get the mustek rather than the momitsu version. The only problem i have with it is that the remote controls are s***e. But thats no biggie. Quite a few of my mates have recently taken the plunge into budget (and i mean budget, sub £200 bracket) and i would say that this offers the most bang for your buck. Some of the other packages have a slightly better speaker system, but a worse DVD player and vice versa, but this is probably the best all round package. All in all its a very impressive set up for the cash. Ebuyer are a good company to buy from too. Although i will say inspect your packages when they arrive before signing. They have a habit of sending shoddily repackaged returns out as new products, so if this happens to you dont sign, or take it and then arrange its return and delivery of a new lot. It doesnt come as a set, but as two seperately boxed products. The dumbasses sent me the wrong DVD player at first and after wondering why the speakers wouldnt connect to the player for half an hour, i arranged a swap. They were very good about it, but everything is through email, rather than a real person.
All in all, very good package, ebuyer are good, occasionally make mistakes but are very willing to fix them quickly.
Enjoy!
Keep me posted as to what you think.

Thanks for all the great info and links,I have read the reviews, have you noticed this noise problem from the speakers that gets mentioned,
I am a bit wary about stuff being delivered as I am never in when stuff arrives so you you have to arrange alternate delivery times etc,and then if its wrong your waiting again and so on.
At the moment I still cant find better so it is still top of my list.
Cheers
There is a hiss when you have them on and no signal, but you dont notice when there is a signal running through it.
Like i said, its bargain home cinema. Its not perfect, but for that money, who cares?
And as far as home delivery goes, i got mine delivered to my dads house (he works from home) and picked it up on the weekend. If you have soemone you trust and is at home all the time, i`d suggest you do that (ie gran).
RE: Bargain home cinema systems
Just about every budget "all in one", or all the budget sattellite/sub/inbuilt amp combi`s I`ve ever come across have some kind of hiss or hum through the speakers. Even the videologic sets that go for around £200-250 for the speakers (without the player) do it. I`ve got a £200 acoustic solutions sattellite system from Argos and there`s a degree of background noise when the speakers aren`t doing anything, but once you`ve got a film playing there`s no problem.
It`s just one of those things that at the kind of price you pay for this stuff, you just have to accept.
Generally, the reviews in magazines I`ve read where people highlight it are written by people that would never dream of dropping down to the kind of pricepoint these sets retail at anyway.
Let`s be honest, you don`t get the performance or build quality of a £2000 system when you spend £150 at the local supermarket. You get what you pay for - like I said I`ve got a "budget" 5.1 system and I`m more than happy with mine even if there`s a bit of a hiss from time to time when the film`s not playing.
