How about this-

8-Way E-Pilot Remote Control £39.99
http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/module.asp?CartID=030316103144549&moduleno=26503&modulecode=

or

One For All Mosaic £59.99
http://www.richersounds.com/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=206343
ten quid more than you said, but it was £250 when it first came out

or

Cambridge Audio M700 £59.99
http://www.richersounds.com/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=206076

I`m thinking about buying the Mosaic myself

That`s an excellent price for the mosaic - see review here http://www.remotecentral.com/director/index.html

I`m sorely tempted - it will stop my wife saying "why can`t the button just SAY what it does on it". And our VCR remote`s died, so the built in database is very tempting....

Anyone got one? Comments on battery life?

Bought the Mosaic for £60 from RicherSounds.
Programmed it for almost everything and it still has over 90% memory left to play with. Bit of a brick but even the women like it. You do need rechargeable batteries esp when you first start programming it.
It has a backlight too. I was impressed as any missing codes are downloaded from the helpline without a problem.

Remember that the Cam audio one with full lcd screen is basically an epilot, IIRC. I`m tempted by this too, so will watch any comments you get very closely!

I`ve got one of those, and it`s pretty good, but there aren`t quite enough buttons - the nav buttons have to double up for play/ff/stop etc, with a button to switch their function. I find that OK, but she who must be obeyed finds it a bit fiddly. I was going to sell mine (for around half that price) and replace with the mosaic.
