Comet and the Aiwa 370...some official correct info please!

mall (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 6th January 2001, 00:24

Well its getting all a bit confusing concering comet and the Aiwa 370 will they get some wont they scenario.
I want a Dvd player and i want a Aiwa 370 but am i going to get one?
Can someone get some correct info from comet concerning the Aiwa and are they getting any more or is it the end of the line.
If it is there are a few confused souls (like me) wondering which Dvd player to buy instead of the 370.
I dont want to go buy a Mico or a Pioneer e.t.c e.t.c only for comet to get some Aiwas in stock at a later date.
I have a question for all you 370 owners....if you had £200 to spend and couldent get a 370.....what would you buy?
What comes close to the 370 for about the same money?
Hopefully me and quite a few others can then make our choice and be quite happy even though it aint a Aiwa 370.

Comet have mucked me about!

Re: AIWA 370

Sat 30th I ordered it via "National No." They had found one somewhere. Tobe delivered Friday 5th Jan.

Paper work came thru this week confirming everything.

Phoned last night (4th), all fine will be delivered on 5th bfore 1pm.

Today (friday 5th), no Aiwa.

Contacted Comet, its not going to be delivered (no stock).

I doesn`t look like they can get any at all.

I was told that the sales person shouldn`t have sold me one, no stock!!

My wife waited in and I am fuming!

I will tell em that they can phone up my local branch and tell em that I can have the display model and 20% discount (for shop soilage).

I am not impressed at all.

I await a call from a manager at customer services.

Some official information regarding Comet and the Aiwa 370.

Comet are crap don`t go there (unless to bomb the place)
Aiwa are crap - don`t buy one unless you want all your friends (you all have friends right?) to laugh at you
The Aiwa 370 is totally crap, buy something better (like a Scan apparently).

I`m still waiting for my Scan to turn up instead of my Tag Mclaren that I had on order after reading reviews on this s***e (sorry) site.

Scan ROCKS!!!!! (sorry, mispelled "is bollocks" again)

Troy,

From this I gather that what your friends think is more important to you than the picture/sound quality of the player or even what you think yourself. If the name is so important you could impress them with a sony, marantz or even the Tag Mclaren. If you don’t have that sort of money (like most of us) and are after a budget player then sod what your friends think and make your own mind up.

I see very few complaints re the Aiwa on this forum so I guess it can’t be that bad considering the number that have been purchased recently. However I would recommend to anyone about to buy a player to get reviews and opinions from more than one source and if possible to see the player in action and make your own mind up.

The correct info from Comet is that they are definetly not getting anymore Aiwa 370 that is why they are selling off the display models. So if you wnat an Aiwa buy a display model if you can find one. Otherwise find something else that is available!!!!!!!

I have Croc, and I still bought the Aiwa.
Why? Because I`m in the trade, and I know when I`m paying for nothing other than a "Badge"

plus, thats the dosh I`m gonna try to set up my biz with. And Aiwa are getting 370`s back into the UK in March, and I WILL be getting an order in for them, just don`t know how much yet!!

However, for the poster of the original thread, instead of the Aiwa, get an LG 3350, `cuase I may be able to get the VCD thing sorted on it.
(unless VCD doesn`t matter to ya, then get the LG anyways, even if you find an Aiwa!!)

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!

Is a vcd the same as a dvd converted to a cdr?
I know its not the same quality.
Or are vcds the one you buy from shops with movies on...the ones that came out before dvd?

just cannot make my bloody mind up...pioneer 535 or the LG 3350.
Got to choose soon or ill never get one!!!!
