since i bought my dvd i am very short of space . i would like to put my sky digibox out of sight . have seen this device advertised. can it be used as a simple remote receiver /extender.? i do not wish to use it to operate a second tv. only to enable me to change channels on sky while my sky box is well out of sight. also does it have a l.e.d. to let u know the digibox is switched on. as i say sorry for posting here but i did not know where else to post!!

thx

tony

The extender should work anywhere with or without a visible line of sight to the digibox. It must be connected to the second RF output of the digibox via an RF (aerial) lead , as this provides the power to the extender as well as providing the means of transmitting the remote signal.
As for an LED , there a a few different types of extender on the market , but the model I have , which is the "official" Sky type does not have any LED and I think it is unlikely that any of the others would have either.

Hiya, I also have the sky magic eye system, only thing I would say is they do work great and you know the satelite is on as the picture will be on the screen, only thing against them is the signal is only carried accross the RF cable so picture quality won`t be brilliant unless you run a scart lead to the TV as well.

Other thing to bear in mind is where you are going to hide your digibox, don`t forget they get quite warm and need good ventialtion so if it`s going in a cupboard might be worth cutting a large hole out of the back.

Best place to get one from is http://www.maplin.co.uk they sell the official sky one and a few copy ones, most less then half the price of getting one from sky.

Good Luck.

Gerald
